About Me

Earthling. Scientist. Dreamer.

I love to create and be outdoors. I am an expert in econometrics, polymer chemistry, gardening, carpentry, brewing beer, and proficient in many others. I love to bike, camp, hike, rock climb, surf, wing foil, sail, travel, read, write, cook, play sports, and probably have too many hobbies.

My Story

I got to where I am now because I pursued my curiosities above all else. I started my career as a chemist despite being told it was a bad career path by my undergraduate advisor. But chemistry was challenging and interesting so I couldn't get enough and went on to earn a Master's degree in polymer chemistry from the University of Oregon. During the great recession, my master's in Chemistry saved me (and ironically so did that same advisor!) from being unemployed. After years of creating innovative new products and learning about scaling up to production, I developed a sensitivity to one of the chemicals I frequently worked with.

Wanting to study math, get a true graduate school experience, and have the title Dr. to correct cops with when I got pulled over, I went to get my Ph.D. in Operations and Supply Chain Management at Michigan State University. After graduation, I accepted a tenure track position at the flagship public university in New York: University at Buffalo. My future ambitions are simply to have as much fun as possible while making the world a better place in whatever small way I can.
